1977
Laminate flooring is invented by Pergo’s parent company, at the time a part of the Perstorp Group.

1979
Pergo produces the first laminate flooring planks in four different decors and 2.4 meters long.

1980
The first laminate flooring is sold in Sweden.

1984
Construction of the first dedicated laminate flooring factory in Sweden is completed.

1988
Pergo files its first patent application directed to a process for the production of an abrasion resistant decorative thermosetting laminate. The first patent in the family is granted in 1990.

1989
The PERGO® trademark was launched and products started to be sold under the trademark in Europe.

1991
Pergo participates as the first and only laminate flooring company in the German “Domotex” fair. One year later, seven exhibitors participate and six years later, laminate flooring fills one entire exhibit hall with 34 exhibitors.

Pergo files its first patent application for the End-Block Matching technology. The first patent in this family is granted in 1996.

1994
Introduction of PERGO® products in North America. Pergo files its first patent application for its molding technologies. The first patent in the family is granted in 1996.

1995
PERGO® products are introduced in Asia.

Pergo files its first patent application for its glueless tight joint technologies. The first patent in the family is granted in 2000.

1996
A state-of-the art manufacturing facility begins production in Garner, North Carolina, USA.

Pergo files its first patent applications for the Embossed-In Register technology. The first patent in this family is granted in 1997.

1998
Pergo files its first patent applications for the separate joining elements technology. The first patent in the family is granted in 2004.

1999
Pergo files its first patent applications for its vertical push/fold down technology and its digital printing technology. The first patent in the family is granted in 2001 and 2005, respectively.

2001
Pergo files its first patent applications for its 4in1 technology. The first patent in the family is granted in 2005.

Pergo launches products with Pergo’s patented Smartlock® glueless mechanical joint.

2002
Pergo files its first patent applications for its pre-glued technology. The first patent in the family is granted in 2004.

2004
Pergo introduces PERGO® branded wood flooring in the United States. A new factory for manufacturing the patented SimpleSolutions™ Four-In-One moldings opens in North America.

2005
Settlement of nine Intellectual Property-related litigations results in net income of over EURO 10 million, as well as wide spread acknowledgements of Pergo’s Intellectual Properties by third parties.

2007
Pergo enters into a settlement and cooperation agreement with Välinge Innovation AB. The cooperation covers the potential licensing of both parties’ extensive patent portfolios to third parties and the sharing of resulting licensing revenues.

Pfleiderer acquires Pergo and establishes an Intellectual Property Business Unit. Pfleiderer is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of products based on chipboard and laminated boards.
